The past decade has seen Steven James crisscrossing Texas and the South with his past two successful rock bands. Now, he's ready to strike out on his own. The young singer who often draws comparisons to Kings of Leon or Black Keys has teamed with acclaimed producer/engineer Lars Goransson, in Austin, who has produced international hit records from groups including The Cardigans; and some of Austin's music royalty including What Made Milwaukee Famous, Alpha Rev and members of Fastball.Steven James has just wrapped recording his new single “Best of Your Love” in Austin and is set to play a string of dates during Summer and Fall 2014 to promote the new single and B-side “Go Down Slow.” The shows will see James off at some of the country’s top music destinations including Austin, Nashville and Los Angeles. The past year alone, Steven James has toured with his latest rock band, The Shake Down, who put out a much-talked about debut record in 2013 with legendary producer Dylan Ely (Against Me!, Linkin Park, Backstreet Boys). While the band takes a hiatus to write new material, Steven James is taking the opportunity to work on his solo debut which features the singer in a more relaxed, Southern genre. “The bands I’ve worked with in the past definitely had an edgier, rock sound,” Steven James said recently from his coastal home in Corpus Christi, Texas. “But these new tunes I’ve been recording, I feel are more personal … these are the songs I’m writing at 2 a.m. on my couch after a few cocktails,” he added. Look for Steven James this year as he plays select dates around the country. The new single and B-side are set to drop in late July, with a massive Texas publicity tour already in the works to get the new tunes out to as many new listeners as possible. “I can’t wait for the world to hear these songs,” Steven James shared. “They are new, but familiar at the same time. I think they’re going to resonate with a lot of music fans.”
