Charla Corn has been very busy since her debut into the Texas Music scene in 2008. She has become a staple on the touring circuit, delivered a highly acclaimed debut CD, become a cohost on the award winning morning show of Dallas-Ft. Worth's 95.9 The Ranch, been awarded Best Female Artist by the TRRMA and most recently gave birth to her first child. In addition, she also has recorded her highly anticipated sophomore release Stella. This eleven track collection is set for success as her first single “Done” continues to climb both of the Texas Music charts while her album cut “Jesus, Daddy and You” is creating quite an underground buzz in the wedding scene. This track was included on the album as it is one that she sang to her groom in her own wedding and is fast becoming a ceremony favorite among her large fan base. After taking a few weeks off for maternity leave, Charla is fast back in the saddle continuing to tour and headline some of the biggest festivals in the scene including Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival (2013 marks her fifth time on the main stage) and Midland’s Crude Fest. Unlike many of her peers, Charla started her career in Nashville - not with a major label recording contract, but with CMT, hosting CMT Insider, Wide Open Country and Karaoke Dokie. She also worked as a CMT correspondent. Time was also spent writing with some of the industry’s most notable talents such as Jim Lauderdale, Clay Mills and Blair Daly. That was certainly a country music “dream Job,” but just not her country music dream. After reasoning that the CMT job was not her road to her country music dream, she made a career-changing decision. She sold her house and car, packed her bags and moved to her home state of Texas and quickly tapped into the thriving music scene. Her first year on the circuit put 45,000 miles on her hand-me-down PT Cruiser crisscrossing Texas as the opening acts for such regional favorites as Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager, the Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Aaron Watson, and the Josh Abbott Band. The buzz really started to build when she did a duet with Josh Abbott on his debut album called “Good Night For Dancing” which held a top position on the Texas Music charts for 12 weeks. Armed with her guitar, an arresting voice and sheer determination, a fan base was built and by 2009 Corn had a full band and a full album under her belt. Her debut release More Than I Should included the hit singles “Don’t Break My Heart Tonight,” “She Ain’t Always Been An Angel” and “Where Did All The Cowboys Go” and paved a road of respect for her with fans, radio stations and industry professionals. In 2011 she took home top honor for “Best Female Artist” in the fan and industry voted Texas Regional Radio Awards. In addition to being noticed for her talent behind the mic on stage, her charm and charisma caught the attention of Fort Worth radio station KFWR (100,000 watts) and they asked her to join the cast of on-air talent. Originally starting as a correspondent for special events, then moving to a stint on mid days and then on to afternoon drive slots, she now is cohost of the morning show with Justin Frazell. Never one to rest on her laurels, Corn continues her colorful career from both sides of the mic and is set to release her freshman album Stella. Lewis Bogach, CMT’s VP of Production puts it best. “Don’t let her good looks fool you. She’s hip, with brains, boots and bring-it-on. Her crack the whip attitude and infectious energy will take her very far in this industry”...and that’s her plan. Summed up by Charla Corn herself she declares “There is simply nothing better for me than being on stage, performing for people and watching them have a great time. I am committed to that feeling, to that sense of purpose. It’s why I’m here.” "Bottom line. This is an excellent record. I have had the pleasure to sit back and watch all of the hard work and passion that has gone into making it come to life. Front to back, top to bottom a really solid record from solid artist worthy of all of our attention. Thank You Charla!" - Justin Frazell, TXRDR "Charla hits another homerun with "Stella"... One of the many reasons I tell folks all the time that she's one of the most talented people I know." - Steve Helms "Skillfully crafted songs accompanied with addicting melodies make this record an enjoyable listen all the way through." - Brison Bursey "The sweetest, yet most rockin' CD I've heard in a very long time!" - Dave Perez, Tejas Bros "In a genre that is saturated with male artists, it's so refreshing to have someone as talented as Charal Corn bring some girl power to Texas Music! Her new single "Done" is fun, energetic and something all of us can relate to. Charla is proof that the best music really does come from right here in Texas." - Neely Yates / KJDL The Red Dirt Rebel 105.3 Lubbock
